About the 2010 Miami International
Agriculture and Cattle Show

Miami Dade County will host the “2010 Miami International Agriculture & Cattle Show” on March 20 and 21 at the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center at Tropical Park. In 2008 we held the first ever International Agricultural and Cattle Show and it was a resounding success, with an unprecedented 20,000 visitors attending a true agriculture fair, where the livestock and our agricultural products were the stars. Over 220 heads of cattle were exhibited by 70 breeders from the State of Florida. Hundreds of visitors from Latin America visited the event. Delegations from Guatemala, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama and many other countries purchased cattle, horses, genetic materials, tractors, trucks and other equipment. The most important aspect of the Agricultural and Cattle Show was the large number of positive reviews and free publicity that Miami-Dade County received both internationally and nationally, with news headlines such as “Miami aims to become an agricultural business center” and “Miami wishes to devote itself now to agricultural business.” International newspapers and web sites from Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, El Salvador, Ecuador, Paraguay and many other nations, as well as our national press, praised the success of the Miami show.

This year, the Expo will feature exhibits of all the important agricultural crops of this area, the State of Florida, plus livestock of different species and breeds. In addition to a three breed cattle show; there will also be plant nursery trade exhibits and vendors, as well as equestrian activities and demonstration events. Machinery, foods and manufactured products will also be exhibited. The three day event is expected to attract regional agri-business interests from the Southeastern United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and Australia. With the positive reviews from all those who attended the first show last year, we expect to far exceed the number of visitors we enjoyed last year.

This event will become an annual tradition, for all to enjoy. On behalf of Carlos Alvarez, Mayor of Miami-Dade County and the Board of County Commissioners we sincerely hope that you, your business and your family will join us in Miami, Florida on March 20 and 21, 2010 and take advantage of this new great event this coming March.

We thank you for your interest and participation.

Sincerely,

Senator, Javier D. Souto, Commissioner District 10
